Cold-rolled sheet/plate is a flat steel product manufactured from hot-rolled coils as raw material, rolled at ambient temperature (or below the steel's recrystallisation temperature) through cold rolling mills. It ranks among the most widely applied categories within the cold-rolled steel product system. Its core characteristics are ‘superior surface finish, high dimensional accuracy, and controllable properties’. While sharing the same fundamental origin as cold-rolled coils (cold-rolled sheet is typically the flat form obtained by slitting cold-rolled coils through the “slitting” process), it is more suited to downstream applications requiring ‘flat sheet processing’.
